Reviews & Stories: Tarot of the Crossed Destinies | Andrea Aste & Petra Baum (Advertising)
ADVERTISEMENT In this episode of Reviews & Stories, Petra Baum from Spirit Mind Energy speaks with internationally renowned artist and tarot creator Andrea Aste about his upcoming deck Tarot of …the Crossed Destinies.
Inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel “The Castle of Crossed Destinies”, Andrea has created a tarot unlike any other: a mysterious castle whose rooms constantly rearrange themselves, reflecting the questions, emotions and inner journeys of those who enter.
What began as a literary inspiration evolved into a deeply layered artistic and philosophical project. Every card represents a room within the castle, connected through a unique Miriorama structure that allows the cards to form endless visual and symbolic pathways. The result is a tarot deck that functions simultaneously as a divination tool, a storytelling device and an immersive symbolic landscape.
In this conversation Andrea shares the origins of the project, the creative process behind the artwork, and the many influences that shaped the deck – from philosophy, psychology and literature to mythology, symbolism and personal experience.
In this video you will discover:
– how Italo Calvino inspired the Tarot of the Crossed Destinies
– why the entire deck takes place inside a living castle
– what a Miriorama is and why it became central to the project
– why Andrea removed all human figures from the cards
– how architecture can become a symbolic language
– the deeper psychological and philosophical layers hidden within the deck
– the symbolism behind cards such as The Tower, The Devil and the Two of Swords
– how storytelling, intuition and tarot can merge into one experience
Tarot of the Crossed Destinies invites readers to explore a world where every room holds a mystery, every symbol opens new questions and every journey through the castle becomes a journey through the self.
